Okay, so I totally suck at blogging. I mean, when you start blogging, you're all "gung-ho". You have all these great ideas about what you're going to write, pictures to post, etc. That was me. I mean, there are only 18 cool people in the world (obviously those are my 18 followers), and I'm sure you can manage a day without my rants and raves. Plus, I don't want my blog to be all rants. So I'm going to start raving. Ready?
Practically Paleo will be a little entry I do (as often as I can...) about my diet. I'm down 75 pounds (yup, that means I can wear my pre-baby #1 clothes again) and I attribute the last drop in weight to a Paleo diet. Mind you, mama don't work out. Nope. Nada. Nothing. I can't. It hurts. Like, IT HURTS! My knees are like an old lady and I just can't do cardio. But don't worry. I'm joining a gym this week to work the core and upper body and do my physical therapy more often.
So what's Paleo. Google it. I'm not a purist. I'm not a cross fitter. I'm not diabetic. I'm arthritic. And I can notice a MAJOR difference in my body when I don't eat: wheat, rice, dairy, soy, sugar, salt. Okay? Got it. Well here is where I am "practically" Paleo. I love beans. I love corn. I digest them fine. So those are my cheats. Probably a few times a week but never more than one per day or even back-to-back days. This weekend, OMG, I screwed up. I'm feeling it. My joints ache. My body is bloated and swollen. Damn you ice cream, cheese and all the other crap I'm embarrassed to list. Just trust me when I say I binged on bad stuff and mama is feeling the wrath of all things indulgent.
So back on track tomorrow. Gotta get feeling better. I have a big month ahead. Two weddings, one wedding shower, working FULL-TIME (whut, whut!!) at my new job and trying to manage a toddler in an arm cast (don't ask) and an infant moments away from walking. Here is what the family is eating for dinner (and probably lunch...so there are two outta three of my meals each day for the next week):
Monday: Asian Marinated Crock Pot Spare Ribs (beef)
Tuesday: Date and Shallot Rosemary Chicken
Wednesday: Curried Twice Baked Potatoes
Thursday: Bacon Wrapped Chicken Skewers with Mango Drizzle
Friday: Crockpot Asian Meatballs
Saturday: Mama's headed to the CHI so the family is OYO (on your own)
Sunday: Father's Day (I'm sure we'll eat, just don't know what)
I get my recipes from Paleo websites, like PALEOMG. That is the source for all of this week's meals.
My breakfasts are usually eggs and something (apple, organic chicken sausage, hot sauce). Or an apple and some almonds. Always coffee. Black. Yum. And I snack. A lot. And snacks are usually a piece of fruit and some nuts. Always natural nuts (no crap on 'em). Turkey jerky is great, too. As long as it's not pumped with gross stuff or soy. Mama gets migraines from soy.
Test out Paleo. Eat your veggies. Learn where your food comes from. If it comes from a box, I bet a caveman didn't eat it.
